2013 Young Artists Music Competition:

Round 2 – Live

1. Finalist’s registration form together with $50 entry fee must be received in the mail, in person or by e-mail by October 31, 2012. If a finalist withdraws, alternates will be contacted in order of their ranking to compete.
2. The live competition will be held Saturday, January 5, 2013, at the Arvada Center, Arvada, Colorado.
3. Finalists may play a different piece from the one submitted in Round 1. See Rule 3 on the Rules page. (Contact us if you are in doubt— iyac@jeffsymphony.org.)
4. Finalists MUST perform with an accompanist and must provide a complete score for the judges. (If you have three copies, please bring them – one for each judge. If you have sheet music for the piano accompanist – one copy or three – please bring it or them for our judges' convenience.) An excellent accompanist can greatly assist the cause of a soloist, while one with a lower degree of skills and/or preparation can detract from even a superior performance. While we maintain a list of recommended local pianists whom you may use if you wish, we strongly urge you to bring your own.
5. Three judges (not otherwise affiliated with the Jefferson Symphony and differing from those judging the first round) will select the First, Second and Third Place winners. Judges’ decisions are final.
6. Finalists will receive judges’ written comments.
7. Winners will be announced immediately following the completion of the live competition.
8. The first three award winners and their accompanists will present a public recital on the evening of the competition, Saturday, January 5, 2012. The winner's cash award will be presented at the Jefferson Symphony Spring Concert, February 17, 2013, or mailed thereafter to recipients not present at the concert.
