Tracy Goodwin
Flutist


Flutist Tracy Goodwin, 20, spent the first 14 years of her life in Golden, CO, and it was there that she started playing the flute at the age of 10. She was self-taught until she moved to Southern California during high school and began studying with Cindy Anne Broz. Ms. Goodwin is currently a junior at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where she studies with Timothy Day (Principal with the San Francisco Symphony), and performs in the Conservatory Orchestra, New Music Ensemble, Guitar Ensemble and Woodwind Chamber Ensemble. She is also a member of the San Francisco Youth Orchestra. Ms. Goodwin has won numerous competitions, including the Temecula Valley Flute Solo Competitions, San Diego Flute Guild Solo Competitions, and three different Rotary Concerto Competitions. She has also performed in master classes with Sarah Tuck, Carol Wincenc, Raffaele Trevisani, Clay Ellerbroek, Thomas Robertello, Catherine Ransom Karoly, and Damien Bursil-Hall. Last summer she studied with Cindy Anne Broz (President of the San Diego Flute Guild) and Clay Ellerbroek (Substitute Principal of the San Diego Symphony). In addition to her interest in music, Ms. Goodwin also enjoys studying and learning about diverse species of animals (she currently owns a five-foot long boa constrictor) and plants. She has received a Golden State award in the field of biology. She performed Carl Reinecke’s Concerto for Flute and Orchestra in D, Opus 283, on January 12th.
