Holiday Concert Guest Artists: Judeth Shay Burns, Soprano & Brian Stinar, Tenor

Judeth Shay BurnsJudeth Shay Burns, soprano, has performed with Central City Opera, the Colorado Symphony Orchestra, Opera Colorado, Opera Theatre of the Rockies, the Aspen Music Festival, and the Santa Fe Symphony, the St. Barts Music Festival in the French West Indies, the Landmark Festival in London and a European tour with the Mid-America Choir. She has received critical acclaim for her performances as Susannah in the Marriage of Figaro, Violetta in La Traviata; Lauretta, Gianni Schicchi; Adele, Die Fledermaus; and Baby Doe, The Ballad of Baby Doe. Her concert and oratorio repertoire includes: Samuel Barber’s Knoxville Summer of 1915; the Brahms Requiem; Mozart’s Exultate Jubilate; the Bachianas Brasillieros by Villa Lobos and Carmina Burana. She has also performed as a back-up singer for Sarah Brightman, and has appeared in Master Classes with Regine Crespin, Hakan Hagegard and Steven Blier.

Ms Burns is a graduate of the Mannes College of Music where she was the recipient of the Richard F. Gold Career Grant, and the University of Colorado. She has also studied and performed with the Aspen Music Festival, and at the Circle in the Square in New York City. An advocate for arts education, Ms Burns was recently named as a teaching artist for Central City Opera.


Brian StinarBrian Stinar, Tenor A native of Iowa, Brian Stinar has sung over 20 leading roles nationwide including Rodolfo in La BohPme, Roméo in Roméo et Juliette, Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly, Edgardo in Lucia di Lammermoor, and Gounod's Faust. His most recent appearances have included roles of Alfredo in La Traviata and Tamino in Die Zauberflöte with OU Opera Theater, Rossini's Stabat Mater with the Greeley Chorale, Verdi's Requiem with the Arapahoe Philharmonic, and the role of Don José in Opera Idaho’s production of Carmen.

Stinar is an Artist in Residence with Denver School of the Arts and holds his master’s degree from the University of Oklahoma where he is a Hoving and Benton-Schmidt Scholar and studied in the studio of Salvatore Champagne. The Pikes Peak Arts Council recently awarded Stinar the “2006 Best Solo Classical Music Performance” for his role as Calaf in Turandot with the Opera Theatre of the Rockies.
