Judges Selected for Live Competition for January 8th International Young Pianists Competition

Judges for the 52nd annual Competition are distinguished area piano performers and teachers:

Olga Dashevskaya
Adjunct Professor of Piano, Theory, and Music History at Red Rocks Community College; Teacher in own private studio

Alice Rybak
Instructor and Chair, Keyboard Department; Director,  Accompanying Program, Denver University Lamont School of Music; Member, Colorado Symphony Orchestra

Crystal Lee
Teacher of regional, national, and internationally successful musicians, private studio in Boulder

The Competition will occur on Saturday, January 8, 2011, at the Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities, co-sponsor of the event, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The top three winners will also perform in a 7:30 p.m. recital. The competition is free and open to the public. Tickets  for the evening recital may be purchased from the Arvada Center at 720-898-7200 or at www.ArvadaCenter.org.  Tickets $10, Children 12 and under $5.

Finalists will compete for a $5,000 annuity (payable at $1,000 per year for five years) to the first-place winner, as well as cash prizes of $2,000, $1,500 and $1,000 to the first-, second- and third- place awardees.  The Golden Civic Foundation, Wilmot Charitable Trust, Fine Arts Foundation, and Kinder Morgan help to underwrite this competition.

The winner will perform in concert with the Jefferson Symphony Orchestra on March 27, 2011, in Golden. Purchase tickets at 303 278-4237 or  www.jeffsymphony.org. The competition schedule will be posted online, showing compositions to be played and performance times.
