The first place winner in The Jefferson Symphony Young Artists Competition, Brandon Garbot, will be performing solo and with the 90-member orchestra. Garbot, a 16 year old sophomore from Portland, Oregon is the youngest finalist in this year’s competition. He will be performing Max Bruch’s Violin Concerto No. 1.
The Competition attracts young musicians locally and from around the world. 12 finalists were selected for the live competiton which was Jan. 9 at The Arvada Center for the Arts and Hummanities, co-sponsor of the event. The first place finalist receives a $2,000 cash prize, a $5,000 scholarship, and the opportunity to play with the Symphony.
In addition to Garbot’s piece The Jefferson Symphony Orchestra will be performing:
Rumanian Rhapsody No. 1, Op. 11 in A minor by Enesco
Symphony No. 3 in Eb major by Beethoven
