Thanks
for visiting the Jefferson Symphony Orchestra's
"virtual home!" We
are a volunteer music organization based in Golden, Colorado, offering several concerts each year by our various musical ensembles.
Beginning our second half-century of performing the finest music of the previous five hundred years, the Jefferson Symphony Association is a committed group of ninety-five talented
musicians and more than a hundred dedicated volunteers keeping the excitement of music alive.
The orchestra performs five
classical concerts in the winter season, all held
on Sunday afternoons, 3 PM, at the Green Center at the Colorado School of Mines in Golden. Four to six free contemporary concerts are performed in Jefferson County parks during the summer months.
The Jefferson Symphony Orchestra sponsors
an annual Young Artists Competition to recognize outstanding young talent in
North America. The first-prize winner performs with the orchestra in the
March concert.
A 10-member Board of Directors oversees symphony operations, providing assistance and support in management, publicity, and raising funds for an annual budget of over
$240,000. Each concert requires approximately 1,500
hours of labor, most of which is provided by volunteers. The Jefferson Symphony Association is supported in part by the Scientific and Cultural Facilities District
(SCFD).
