Violinist

Linda (Eun Jung) Choi, 21, is currently a senior at the Juilliard School (NY), where she studies violin with Naoko Tanaka. She has also studied with Gerald and Toni Stanick and with Lawrie Hill. Born in Korea, she came to the Vancouver Academy in Canada in 1999, where she played in its orchestra, participated in its strings programs, master classes and chamber music ensembles, performed many piano trios, and appeared as soloist with its orchestra and with the Federal Symphony Orchestra in Seattle and the Vancouver Korean Youth Orchestra, as well as holding a solo recital. Since enrolling at Juilliard, she has been a member of the Juilliard Symphony Orchestra, performed in Robert McDuffie’s master class, held solo recitals at Paul Hall and Morse Hall in New York, performed in Carnegie Hall as a member of the New York String Orchestra, performed solo as well as duo at the Aspen Music Festival, performed a piano trio in Alice Tully Hall, and given a solo recital in Vancouver. Ms. Choi has been winning music awards and distinctions since the year 2000, receiving numerous scholarships. In 2003, she was a winner at the British Columbia Provincial Competition both as a soloist and in a chamber ensemble. In 2004, she earned second place of the (National) Canadian Music Competition for solo and won the competition for chamber music. In 2005, she received a full scholarship for the Aspen Music Festival and in 2006 received the Aspen Orchestral String Fellowship. Ms.Choi is a three-time recipient of the British Columbia Arts Council Scholarship. She has participated in many festivals and summer programs, including the Aspen Music Festival for four summers. On January 12th, she performed the Violin Concerto in D Major, Opus 77, by Johannes Brahms.
