- The First Place Winner will receive a
$5,000 scholarship from The Barbara E. Jackson Jefferson Symphony Orchestra Music Scholarship Trust, provided he or she becomes a college senior or graduate student (earning a bachelor’s degree or higher) in his or her chosen field of study within 8 years of receiving the Young Artists Competition Award.
a) The grant may be applied to tuition, books, course-related fees or purchase of musical instruments. A student need not pursue a musical degree.
b) Distribution is subject to the specific terms of the scholarship trust.
c) Disbursements are made in January and July. To receive disbursements, first place winners must submit to our office a request a month prior to when payment is to be made. Thus, a request for a January payment must be received by our office in December of the prior year, and a request for a July payment must be received by June.

- The First Place Winner will appear as soloist with the Jefferson Symphony Orchestra on
March 22, 2009.
- The First Place Winner will be offered a scholarship valued at $1,500 to attend the Rocky Ridge Music Center in Estes Park, Colorado, in the summer of
2009. No cash award is implied; scholarship must be used in
2009.
- Inability to perform with the Jefferson Symphony Orchestra on March 22, 2009, will result in the forfeit of the First Place Award and monies. Second and Third Place winners will move up in standing and no Third Place Award will be given that year.
